スペインとエスパドリーユとの歴史的な強いつながりは何世紀も前に遡り、その名前はスペイン東部バルセロナを中心とする地域で使用されるカタルーニャ語の” espardenya(エスパルデーニャ)”に由来しています。これは「エスパルトグラス」のことであり、伝統的なロープやバスケットの製作に使用されています。
Their strong historical ties to Spain stretch back centuries, and their name comes from the Catalan word, “espardenya”, which refers to the nativeespartograss used traditionally in the creation of rope and basketry.

HEREU’s decision to reinterpret the classic espadrille into new, refined variations was a natural one. The brand’s keen interest in folk techniques here takes on a new significance, given that espadrilles have been worn continuously by people in the Mediterranean for generations.

HEREU’s espadrille styles such as Horta and Caprala offer luxurious fabrications in leather, as well as elasticated sections for greater comfort. Manufactured in Alicante by specialist artisans, they join a lineage of espadrilles crafted by hand in the Mediterranean.
