HEREU's craftsmanship is based on tradition, yet is shaped by a modern aesthetic. Many of the workshops that produce HEREU products are family-run, located throughout Spain, and have a history of crafting leather goods for generations. The skills, backed by that experience, are passed down through daily practice.
This heritage allows for a careful and sustainable approach to manufacturing, including traditional leatherworking techniques as well as unique knitting and stitching that require time and training to master. As much of the process is done by hand, only a small number can be produced each day.
Preserving this high level of craftsmanship and ensuring our manufacturing partners are valued and fairly compensated is extremely important to HEREU.
The selection of materials plays a central role in HEREU's manufacturing. In particular, they primarily use high-quality leather sourced in Spain, taking advantage of the different textures and finishes to create a wide range of expressions, from supple and soft to dense and structured. This allows them to create designs that offer new interpretations of familiar shapes.
The Spanish leather used in many of HEREU's models is also used in the brand's signature moccasin series. The partner tannery is based in the town of Padrón, Galicia, in northwestern Spain, and has been in business since the 1870s. To this day, they continue to supply leather to the world's leading shoe brands and fashion houses.
Many HEREU collections incorporate elements inspired by traditional crafts, most notably the recurring motif of woven leather, which is reflected in a wide range of styles, from soft calfskin crossbody bags to structured riding boots.
These motifs reflect HEREU's consistent approach of bringing out the potential of materials through restraint and precision. The brand's foundation lies in the idea of valuing the beauty of form rather than excessive decoration.
HEREU will continue to pursue products that combine a sophisticated look that fits into everyday life with the warmth of handcrafted items. We continue to produce timeless collections while paying homage to techniques that have been passed down through the ages.
